About Veeam Recovery Time Estimator
VRTE is a local-first recovery estimation workspace that connects to a real Veeam Backup & Replication environment, collects current path data, and predicts restore duration using measured throughput, live system load, historical sessions, logs, and optional Veeam ONE signals.
What v1 does now
- Local admin authentication with local-only session storage
- VBR server registration and connection testing
- Infrastructure discovery for jobs, restore points, proxies, repositories, and SOBR extents
- Live telemetry, bandwidth, proxy, repository, and log analysis collectors
- Optional Veeam ONE data import for confidence lift and bottleneck history
- HTML and JSON export of the final assessment
Safety defaults
- Read-only discovery by default
- No Veeam job modification or restore execution
- Controlled throughput tests require explicit confirmation
- Temporary files use the `VRTE_Test_<timestamp>.tmp` naming pattern and are removed automatically
- Logs remain local to the machine where VRTE is running
- Saved credentials are encrypted before being persisted locally
Open source direction
VRTE is MIT licensed and intentionally structured so future work can move deeper into Veeam ONE correlation, richer Linux telemetry, more complete Veeam Data Cloud workflows, and eventually model-based prediction refinement using the historical assessment store.
